What a weekend! It was like going back in time! I built Legos, walked down to the creek with my daughter, threw some rocks in, picked some flowers, chased a frog around... My entire neighborhood is out walking around, kids playing games in the street with sidewalk chalk...

I don’t know about you guys but this is how I mafuckin  LIVED when I was a kid. Outside all day every day, feet as black as the pavement.

I gota admit, I'm  kinda enjoying this, feeling a little guilty about it.

Nice! I’m gonna bring my lego Porsches in to the office to set on my desk.

Haha I go though spells of that, but we’re staying home and we’re not going near anyone, were not over shopping/over buying ...what else can be expected?

I am going to try to do some good with this time, although I may be too late to actually help. I bought a 3d printer and am going to print “face shields” along with a few colleagues who are doing the same for the medical peeps on the front lines of this noise.

The printer should arrive this week!

We’ve been spending a ton of time outside with our kids. Over the weekend we played baseball, soccer, frisbee, went biking, hiking, kayaking in a partially-icy lake, fishing, had a campfire, threw the ball for the dogs, played with our stream, made a new bike trail in the woods, and raked part of the lawn.

I got out for a proper mtb ride, even better than last week’s - there was only snow on SOME of the trails haha. But that’s pretty good for April 5 around here.

That sounds awesome. We have a camping trip that is probably going to get canceled in early May (Assateague Island). However, I got a brand new tent in preparation for it, so were going to do some backyard camping when it warms up a little more.

Hoping to get out on the MTB today!

Ugh, yeah early May isn’t looking promising for much. What tent did you buy? We’re definitely going camping on our new land once it warms up a bit more. Ok a lot more, there was still ice on the ground over there as of this weekend. We lost the ice out of our yard finally yesterday.

This instant-up jobbie. I honestly hate large tents, but you know as well as I, that’s the game you’re playing with family camping, particularly with doggos.

As a kid my feet were half callus from walking barefoot everywhere, there was no electricity/entertainment until the generator was started around 5. It’s understandable why people lament the times before this constant stream of entertainment.

Woah... that’s pretty tempting for the money. I’m really curious if it’s any good. Do let me know. We have a tent big enough for me and the kids, but we couldn’t all get in it, especially with the dogs. Two tents. For sure.

* lol it weighs 36lbs

Lol so I have had quite a run with tents. I have this one that weights like 3lbs. I paid $25 from K-Mart forever ago. It has seen me through my wholesome boy scout days, through a festival in which I sat in the middle of my tent in solitude and dug myself into an emotional hole and forgot how time works ...thanks magic mushrooms. Then through some fun camping trips as an adult. It does not leak, it’s perfect.

Then we have this “cot tent” which might as well be a coffin, I spent one night in it and never will again. I have no idea why we still have it. It weights almost 50 lbs only folds up to the size of a gigantic briefcase. It’s hotter than hell, claustrophobic and uncomfortable.

Here are my pre-review expectations:

60 sec setup? More like 10 minutes with two people, 20 with two people and a kiddo running around.

Rain fly does not look sufficient

I imagine a lot of buyers of this sort of tent are “hey were going to go on this camping trip, never been before, prob never will again, but we need a tent”. So my concern is for durability, as we camp a few times per summer more if we can.

I have been spending lots of time with my bike around the lake.  We’ve been working to get my daughter off her screens and outside too, but it’s a little hard to tear a teenager’s interest away from Instagram and Youtube with the Real World.  My wife and I got a lot of planting done in our garden.  Spring has been kind recently.

I built the Quattro yesterday. My first time building one of the Speed Champions sets and it was a pretty cool build.

Looks great! Yeah I was impressed with how fun the build was from such a small kit!

For sure, 60 second setup isn’t possible. I don’t think you can get that thing out of its bag in 60 seconds.

Your expectations are probably spot-on. It even says “water-resistant” but man, it looks comfy for a bunch of people to hang out, away from bugs and mostly out of the rain haha

My 6 YO just built that same Porsche set this morning.  Turned out good, he only missed three pieces.  Almost time to break out the millennium falcon set to occupy some time.

The new speed champions sets have better proportions vs the older sets.  They are nice sets though.  My 3YO likes to play with the GTR.

I actually had to take a break while assembling this little kit lol. The hours from doing the James Bond one, doing die cast customs, and working from home really got to my neck!

Been there.  I’ve started a new build technique.  I’ll only build as long as I have an interested helper.  So once one of my kids is bored, we pack it up for the night.  I was able to stretch the Bugatti build to almost six months that way.  If we had built every night, probably would’ve been less than two months, but we took some nights off.
